42,000 sq. ft.

Mechanical and electrical engineering services for addition and renovation of an existing church with an approximate area of 42,000 sq. ft. The 22,000 square foot, two story addition consisted of a sanctuary & balcony with a capacity of 1,100 occupants. The 20,000 square foot renovation consisted of a day care center, offices, classrooms, bathrooms, bookstore, kitchen, etc.

  • The air distribution system for the three existing gas fired roof      top units were modified to suit the new architectural layout of the  existing building. A new roof top unit Variable Volume / Variable  Temperature (VV/VT) system was added to serve the first floor area of the  existing building which consisted of several zones such as the classroom,      offices and lobby area.

  • Two constant volume 50 tons gas fired packaged air conditioning  units were selected to serve the sanctuary area. Supply ductwork from the two units were routed to the ceiling mounted supply diffusers throughout the sanctuary area. The return ductwork was extended from the roof top  units to low wall mounted return registers located at several locations      throughout the sanctuary area.

  • The day care center on the first floor with high occupancy was      served by a packaged gas fired air conditioning unit with VV/VT system for      various areas.

  • Four 1,000 gallon underground propane gas tanks were provided and piped to the gas fired equipment including existing and new gas fired roof      top units.

  • Schematic design for a new 20,000 gallon underground fire protection  hydro-pneumatic pressure tank was performed.

  • The electrical design consisted of calculations for sizing the new electrical service to the building and related power distribution design.
