The project consisted of the addition of new industrial platforms and modification of existing platforms at an existing power generating facility. The structural engineering services for the field investigation, design and construction administration services were provided:
The existing site consists of multiple industrial platforms and elevated walkways for access to various equipment throughout the plant. Based on the accessibility and maintenance requirements, new platforms or modifications to the existing platforms are required occasionally.
The projects consisted of the design of several steel platforms at the grade or elevated levels. Typically, the steel platforms and related components are comprised of galvanized materials. Steel ladder or stairways are designed to access the platform floors.
The scope of wok consisted of performance of field investigations, design, preparation of structural drawings and construction administration services. The platform floor system consisted of serrated galvanized steel grating generally.
Field verification of the existing condition and coordination of the new design with the existing site conditions were of primary importance in the successful completion of the work. Close attention to the site details and conditions were required in order to avoid the possibility of interference with the adjacent equipment, structure, piping, conduits and other site components which are prevalent in the tight industrial setting.
